This Tuesday on WWE 205 Live, the first round of the WWE Cruiserweight Championship Tournament will continue as Roderick Strong battles Hideo Itami, and Kalisto goes head-to-head against Lince Dorado.

Last week, SmackDown LIVE General Manager Daniel Bryan kicked off a new era for the Cruiserweight division by introducing Drake Maverick as WWE 205 Live’s new General Manager. Maverick wasted little time making headlines when he announced a 16-man Cruiserweight Championship Tournament to crown a new Cruiserweight Champion — with the finals to take place at WrestleMania 34!

In the evening’s two subsequent first-round matchup, Cedric Alexander moved on to the next round by overcoming Gran Metalik, and TJP advanced by scoring a huge victory over the first-ever U.K. Champion Tyler Bate.

With the tone set for an intense tournament, all eyes will be glued to WWE 205 Live this Tuesday to see what Strong brings to the table against Itami and if Kalisto will rise above Dorado in two highly anticipated showdowns.

Find out who will move one step closer to an opportunity at the WWE Cruiserweight Title on The Grandest Stage of Them All. Don’t miss all the action of WWE 205 Live’s 16-man Cruiserweight Championship Tournament, Tuesday at 10:20 ET/7:20 PT, streaming live on the award-winning WWE Network.

Roderick Strong outlasted Tyler Bate in a classic heavy-hitting matchup to become the No. 1 Contender to Pete Dunne’s WWE United Kingdom Championship.

Having brazenly called out Lars Sullivan two weeks ago, Strong seemed determined to earn an opportunity to face The BruiserWeight for the WWE U.K. Title. The Messiah of the Backbreaker pulled out a plethora of backbreaking slams on Bate, but the young Brit showed true grit with each spirited comeback.

Strong remained committed to keeping his opponent down, however, unleashing a string of maneuvers that even Bate couldn’t overcome.

After connecting with back-to-back knees on Bate’s chin, Strong forcefully spiked the former WWE United Kingdom Champion face-first to the mat. Then he hit the End of Heartache on Bate’s already-tender back for the win, and earned himself a WWE U.K. Championship Match against Pete Dunne.

Expect a classic this Wednesday on NXT when Roderick Strong battles Tyler Bate in a match to determine the next challenger to WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne.

Between Strong’s knife-edge chops and endlessly inventive backbreakers, and Bate’s belting strikes and textbook execution, this first-time matchup is guaranteed to be long on action. That it’s for a crack at The BruiserWeight’s U.K. Title will only heighten the intensity. Despite their many similarities inside the ring — fundamental expertise, a willingness to give and receive ferocious hits, bottomless gas tanks — Bate and Strong are approaching the opportunity from very different perspectives.

Bate gave Dunne the fight of his life last month in a U.K. Title Match but came up short of regaining the championship. A win against Strong would put the English prodigy back on track for another showdown with his familiar foe and potentially a second reign as U.K. Champion.

The veteran Strong, in contrast, is still in search of his first championship since joining WWE. If he were to advance past Bate and dethrone The BruiserWeight, The Messiah of the Backbreaker would not only accomplish that goal, but he would make history as the first American to win the U.K. Title.

Which Superstar will take the next step toward a WWE U.K. Championship Match? Find out this Wednesday when Bate and Strong go head-to-head on WWE NXT, streaming at 8/7 C on WWE Network.

Roderick Strong and Lars Sullivan are vastly different Superstars. Yet, this Wednesday when they battle head-to-head on NXT, they have the same goal: to win and move on to the Fatal 4-Way No. 1 Contender’s Match.

The Messiah of the Backbreaker is a true underdog, battling his whole life to become one of the best in-ring grapplers in the world. He’s also a devoted family man who is fighting for his son and fiancée. Sullivan, on the other hand, has no family. The monstrous Superstars professed as much during his interview with the media on the Dec. 6 episode of NXT. Sullivan also is the furthest thing from an underdog.

Unbeaten in singles action since entering NXT, the 6-foot-3, 300-plus pound behemoth has destroyed his competition at every turn. With hands that look like they could squeeze the life out of a grizzly bear, Sullivan is a scary man. But, if there is a way to topple this giant, Strong may just be the Superstar to figure it out.

With a potential future opportunity to challenge Andrade “Cien” Almas for the NXT Title at TakeOver: Philadelphia on the line, the stakes are high for both Superstars.

See if Roderick Strong’s heart and desire will be enough to overcome the pure power and brute force of Lars Sullivan in their Fatal 4-Way No. 1 Contender’s Qualifying Match tonight on NXT.

NXT General Manager William Regal dropped a bombshell on the NXT Universe, announcing that because of Drew McIntyre’s injury, there will be a new challenger to NXT Champion Andrade “Cien” Almas.

Almas’ opponent will be decided based on a series of four singles matches, with the winners of those matches then competing in a Fatal 4-Way Match. The winner of that match will challenge Almas for the NXT Title at TakeOver: Philadelphia on Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Wells Fargo Center.

The four singles matches will be: Kassius Ohno vs. Velveteen Dream, Aleister Black vs. Adam Cole, Killian Dain vs. Trent Seven and Roderick Strong vs. Lars Sullivan. Seven earned his way into the series of matches after winning a Battle Royal during an NXT Live event in Lakeland, FL.

Who will go on to challenge Almas for the NXT Title at TakeOver: Philadelphia? Be sure to tune in to NXT every Wednesday night at 8/7 C on the award-winning WWE Network to see how all four singles matches and the Fatal 4-Way Match unfold!

Beware of spoilers below.
